Subject: ASCAP licensing hassle

hello all,
I am confronted with a problem at my local regular gig:
ASCAP (sp?) is harrassing the owner which might result
in his dropping all of his scheduled live entertainment,
due to the increased expense. I don't know exactly how
much this is, but I believe the owner wants to cut his
expenses rather than increase them, so he is considering
buying a cable music channel service, which apparently is
licensed for commercial use.
Just curious if anyone out there has had to deal with this,
and how ....
