Dear Harp-L,
There is likely to be some disruption on all mailing lists hosted at garply while we split the processing of mailing lists out from our primary mail hub to a dedicated list processing machine.
Over the last month the load imposed on our mail hub by mailing list traffic has been causing significant problems (like gobbling up all the memory leaving our other services high and dry).
We have now more or less finished building the second mail server (a DECStation 5000, running Ultrix, with 128Mb of memory). I'm testing it at the moment, and when I'm happy I'll be moving harp-l (and a bunch of other mailing lists) over to the new machine. This will probably happen over the weekend.
Can I ask y'all to restrain your trigger fingers if there is a break in service (i.e. messages start bouncing, or you don't receive any mail for a day). Bear in mind that I will be *painfully* aware of any problems, and that mailing the list going "where's all the messages at?" is only going to compound the problem!!
If you are a list admin on the CC of this message, could you please mail a similar warning to your list?
