I just received ($11.25+s/h from Joe's on line) a Hohner Big River harp in the key of LOW D. This is a great diatonic! It has a wonderful warm low tone. The reeds don't hit the covers, even on this low a key. The cover plates are open on the ends, similar to a MB, which seems to let out a little more "buzz" than closed covers. (Does this contribute to the warm sound?)
The reeds seem more responsive than the old (early batch) Big Rivers. This diatonic now seems to have a feel much like a Lee Oskar. (The profile is very similar [Germans copying Japanese?].)
