I remember the theory that was passed here a while back about everyone getting a harp as a young child. I still have the harp my parents gave me when I was just a pup. I don't remember playing it, but when I found it 20 years later it looked used (big surprise).
Ned's harp story. Got cancer, listened to lots of blues (Muddy and Wolf and Big Walter), decided I wanted to play along. Had a guitar at home, but then a friend loaned me Jon G's "Country and Blues Harmonica" book and that got me going. Played the same lick for a couple of months while waiting for the bus to and from work, drove my girlfriend crazy - I think Jon called it the good morning riff. And, as some guy who plays one of them funny harps with the button on them said yesterday, "the rest is history ..."
This all started 8 or 9 years ago, I was so much older then.
