The first harp I brought, the second I owned, was an Echo Vamper 10 hole in Bb and it cost 9 shillings and 6 old pence. ITV hadn't been invented and you could still get Black Cat cigeretts out of a despenser in packs of 5. At that time I figued a harp was good for 4 days, One day breaking in, one day for giging and it was on it's way out on the last two ! In the first ten years I spent a thousand pounds a year on harps. A three story house in Islington cost 3000 pounds and Hohner said then as now they are most interested in the first time buyer - David
