I don't know wether or not this is old ground but I just got sent a new CD by my Sister called something like "The glory of Gershwin". She bought it because she is a big Gershwin fan but when she got home discovered that, despite the total lack of mention in the title, it was a tribute album, from 1994, to Larry Addler's 70th birthday.
The album contains around sixteen tracks of old Gershwin classics, played by various orchestras, brass bands and even rock bands and vocals by the likes of Sting, Cher, Jon Bon Jovi, Kate Bush and Chris De Burg. But every single track is acompanied by Larry Addler.
Everything form classicle style, dance band, rocky(ish), Jazzy etc etc. An absolute dream for someone like me who is trying to learn various styles of classical Chromatic harmonica. If this is your type of thing and you don't have it then get a copy. It is completely unique in my experience (limited as it is) and is the first time I have ever heard the harmonica being used in the style and with the sort of tone that I am aiming for.
Even if you don't like classical Harp, it is still one hell of a good album for the music alone, unless of course, you don't like Gershwin?
