Subject: Re: Bassman ? (fwd)

Intrigued, I dragged my Bassman out of the close and headed to the
studio. Mr. Meadors is indeed correct, it's virtually impossible to get
the volume up to 4 without significant feedback. If you chop the middle
and presence you lose the bite and the bass still rumbles back at you. I
was in a small long narrow room. I've used this same amp in clubs and
didn't have as much trouble. It did work fine at about 3 and a half
volume with the treble on 2 the middle at 7 along with the bass and
presence also at 7. More or less. This with either a Shure or an
Astatic. The mic didn't make a heck of a lot of difference. The minute
i I put my delay unit in the signal path the problem went away. Big fat
bitey sound. Walk right out and grab you up front sound. No feedback
unless you went up to 5 which is probably illegal in most states. fjm
