Subject: blues keys

I am a beginning harp player, and am learning to play to early
Paul Butterfield recordings. I primarily play with a Blues
Harp in the key of C. I find it easy to play to some of his
songs while I just can't figure out the notes to other songs.
I think this has a great deal to do with the key signatures
of the songs. From what I can tell, the songs that I can play
to are in the key of G. They begin with G and follow a 12
bar blues chord progression. I can play in G becuase a C harp
can play in the key of G in cross-harp style. Are my observa-
tions correct?
Well, I am realy getting into playing harp and I want to buy
more harmonicas so I can play to more of Butterfield's songs,
as well as those of other artists. What keys are blues songs
typically written in? What harmonica keys should I begin
buying?
Thanks a bunch!!!
