Subject: (Fwd) Blowing like mad!

Hi all,

Gee this list is addictive. This post is a way of placating the need.

Being unable to get to reading my harp-mail for a couple of
weeks had the added drawback of missing an awful lot of messages. I
started out trying to read them all and just couldn't do it. As
strong as my desire was to catch up with all that I had missed I just
didn't have the ten hours to spend reading it all. :-)

Anyway, I am writing to report on my first ever chance to really jam
with a guitarist. Inia, a friend from work is a wonderful guitarist
and we had a chance to get our instruments together over a few
cones. We jammed about a hundred variations of the blues in various
keys and we both had a fantastic time. Being a feeling rather than a
theory player I was just wandering along wherever he went and WE
WERE MAKING COOL MUSIC! My confidence has soared. My biggest
problem was confidence I think and to hear the music we were
procucing helped no end. :-) Now all we need is bass player and a
drummer. :-)

I recommend any of you who haven't already done so to find a friend
with a guitar and get together. Having a source of rhythm and
inspiration is a wonderful thing. :-)

I am now looking for a jam night to get in on.

Another interesting event was the offering of a harp to Inias 18
month old son, Kahurangi. He was toddling around looking for
mischief while we were playing so I handed him my D LO. Within a
minute or two he was in his own groove, swaying side to side a la
Evits Rednow, and producing blow-draw chugs with all the tone and
volume his little lungs could muster. :-) He soon got into
producing single notes. He had a great time. I did have to apologise
to Moana though. Harmonica is not an instrument that a mother could
love. :-) The little guy showed great promise.

Anyway I had better get an early night. Jumping back on the treadmill
on a Monday mourning is always a difficult thing. :-)

Cee Yall Later,

Marcus
