Subject: Charlie Musselwhite, Price of Lee Oskars

If Charlie Musselwhite plays "just a little off" I wish I could
achieve that degree of "offness," although I'm afraid I usually
manage to achieve my own brand of the same.

More seriously, after following the thread on wood and plastic
combs, as well as that on the relative merits of Marine Band
and Lee Oskar harps, I decided to take the plunge and buy a
couple of LOs for comparative purposes (I've been using MBs
exclusively to this point). I have to say, however, that I was
somewhat rocked by the price. Living in "the Great White North"
I've become accustomed to the fact that Canadian money
takes a beating on the international currency scene, but I was
unprepared for paying $43.00 per harp. Once you add on provincial
and national sales tax (don't even ask) the grand total came to
$102.00 (Can.). So what I want to know is, have I been gouged by
my local (sort of) music store? Employing my handy-dandy calculator,
and using the current exchange rate, I figure I was charged around
$31.00 (U.S.) per harp. Is that close to the going rate for an LO
south of the 49th? If so, no problem. If not, time to start shopping
around.

This probably isn't of much interest to the list in general, so
private replies might be best. Thanks for your help.
