Quoting from Doug DeutschÌs Blues and More column in the Los AngelesÌ monthly publication, Jazz Scene, June 1996: ÍBlues and More Associate Writer Steve Brown reports that 11-year-old ËveteranÌ harp wunderkind BRODY BUSTER returns to Southern California for a six-night stand at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood (June 25-30), normally a showcase venue for top jazz performers worldwide. ËBrodyÌs upcoming datesÌ, continues Brown, Ëare part of the ongoing Young Artist Concert Series, produced by Barbara Brighton, who commenced this project back in March. Brighton says she is booked solid through September, with a stable of young jazz and blues talent that will appear in several clubs around L.A.Ì ËWe want to give young people an opportunity to get exposed to Jazz and Blues music by seeing it performed by their peers in a concert setting,Ì says Brighton. ËChildren are admitted free to all of the events, and itÌs only $8 for the adults.Ì
ËBrody recently played,Ì adds Brown, Ëwith the Washington Philharmonic Orchestra in front of an audience which included President Clinton, at the Kennedy CenterÌs 25th Anniversary Gala in Washington, D.C.Ì According to Brody, Ëit was the biggest band I ever played with! And I got to meet Aretha Franklin, Barbara Walters, Tom Selleck and Tricia Yearwood. Later, backstage, I met Senator Ted Kennedy. It was really neat!Ì
Brody has also recorded a demo with a dozen tracks that his management company is currently shopping to the labels in search of a good record deal. He also recently penned his first compositions, ËI Came To PlayÌ and ËNever Too Young For The BluesÌ.
