Many years ago while Captaining a 707 from EWR to Ord I had the pleasure of having Ella on board my flight. She got on singing the current "doing what we do best jingle" that American was using then in their adds. I proceeded to whip out my harmonica and play along. Later on in the flight I went back and we talked music and harmonicas and eventually got to talking about Toots Thielmans. I only had a couple of his albums back then. I asked Ella if she knew of a good source for his music. She asked me for my card and said she would have her agent contact me with some info. About three weeks later, at my mailbox at work, I had a message to pick up a package in administration. The package was three LP's of Toots; no return address or anything so I could pay her or even thank her. Now THAT'S a nice Lady!!! The world needs more people like that. She'll be missed.
