I assume that all reed plates are punched. If so, then all the dimensions of the reed slots, screw holes and nail holes are probably accurate with respect to each other as a function of the punch/die accuracy.. My question is how accurate are they with respect to the edges of the plates. I tried mixing and matching some plates and combs and the front face of the assembly was not flush.
This could arise if the plates were not always accurately located in the punch. Maybe the factory machines/sands the front face of the assembly to get the front edges of the plates and the comb flush. Anyone have any knowledge or experience in this area??
