The harp player for Clapton IS Jerry Portnoy - and what a great tone!
I saw the 'Nothing But the Blues' special with Clapton admiring his idols, and Portnoy seemed a bit inhibited, basically staying in the cross harp. When I saw Prince's Trust, he surprised me a bit, churning out some great blow bends, with "Holy Mother" yielding a great solo...
BTW, is it just me, or did Dylan seemed very tired?? His harp playing was VERY reserved, to say the least. In my opinion, he was borderline terrible - when compared to his past harp work. Never the master, Dylan did play quite contentful in his past.
Back to the Clapton set, I must refute those 'I'd rather see Muddy' persons... If your lived in Chicago during the '60s, you'd probably be a 'I'd rather see Robert Johnson' person.... which by the way I am even in these techno-crazed 90s! Don't disrespect anyone (Clapton) simply because of their love for the blues - Muddy and Wolf had great voices, but Clapton's guitar work is unarguably better. The Brit's, in my opinion, focused more on the instrumental aspect of blues, realizing their voices paled in comparison to the Chicago greats...
A quick question - where do I find windsavers?? I do not want to send away from Hohner - can't I just make my own?? I heard cassette leader tape is useful - comments??
Apologies for the blues segment, J.J.
