Subject: Astatic question

OK, Captain Clueless here with a really stupid question.

I have recently ordered the Astatic mike (w/o volume) from Kevin's.
After reading posts about mics and high impedence and volume
pots for about a week now, all I know is that I want high
impedence. My question is, do I have to do anything to the mic
or is it ready out of the box (I would search the archives, but no
Web access).
