Subject: overblowing wihout covers(was ob made easy)

the deal with overblowing with the covers off is nothing new. I suspect
Steven Rousseau was damping the blow reed with his lip thus only letting
the draw reed sound and produce an overblow. This can be confirmed by
just touching the blow reed (for overblows) and blowing with only the
draw reed sounding. Hold the draw reed for overdraws. Yes, overblowing
is easier this way which is the idea behind the hank bonson overbow harp,
but the real "trick" is being able t overblow/draw on a harp with the
cover plates on. Gapping the reeds will help and rick epping recently
posted a nice article on the subject. I also touch on the subject on my
web page (which is grossly overdue for an update, but I've been sick for
the past month and a half)www.umn.edu/nlhome/m515/micha018/wrldharp.htm

good luck.
