Item Subject: cc:Mail Text Well, I got my first lower-than-standard-G harp yesterday, a low-F Lee Oskar, and I have to say I LOVE the sound! Nice and throaty. I must be going through a phase. I used to like the higher harps, but lately the standard F has been sounding a little too high for my ears. And the 1-draw bend and 2-draw deep bend on the low-F are a stretch but more manageable than I had anticipated.
Now a question: Farrell's has the Huang Star Performers for, I think, $6 each (like $8 or $9 retail). From what I've heard, the quality is reasonably good. How in the world does Huang make any money at that retail price, and still deliver a quality product? Are they doing computer-controlled manufacturing, or manufacturing them in a developing country where they pay workers peanuts? I'm probably going to buy one to see how I like it (I really like the Golden Melody/Star Performer style of cover plates). And at $70 for a set of 12, what a bargain.
