Although I'm a firm believer that comb materials make a difference in
sound, the brightness yoiu were hearing was due to (in order of
importance):

1)Magic Dick
2)The amp settings
3)Magic Dick
4)His choice of microphone
5)Magic Dick
6)The soundman's settings
7)Magic Dick
8)The room's acoustics
9)Magic Dick
- - and -
10) His harp

Magic Dick probably had a lot to do with it too...
