Yamaha certainly DID make harps, but as far as I know, do so no longer. I've seen a few of them and they were fairly standard Hohner-type tremelos and blues harps. The players I know who used them were not all that impressed, except fot Mike Turk, who remembers them fondly.
As for the wholetone/augmented tunings advocated by Wim is not new - there have been several variations devised by players from England (Dr. John Yeadon), Japan (Mr. Okumoto), US (Hugh Stevenson) and most recently by some guy from Australia whoses name escapes me for the moment. I also remember that Richard Hunter discussed this idea with Toots in his "Jazz Harp" book.
...and if you're interested in tunings, at long last my collection of altered tunings for the harmonica is available. More than a hundred different set-ups for diatonic and a bunch for chrom too. If you have a PC, drop me a line and I will email them as a 12k zip file, or for US$5.00 I'll mail them on disc to anywhere in the world. Macs could be a bit trikier, but let me know if you're interested and I'll see what I can do.
