My experience, more specifically, is that bending is harder on
the reed that vibrates faster than its normal pitch, i.e., the blow reed
in a hole where you bend on the draw. I wear out 4 blows more than
anything because I draw bend that hole more than anything else. I wear
out 6 blow on lower pitched harps I use in 3rd position a lot I believe
for the same reason, because I draw bend in that hole a lot.
