Subject: harp cases

What consensus? I have about 50 Lee Oskars and cases. Of that 50 or
perhaps 3 are broken. These are all my oldest cases dating from the 1st
year Lee Oskars were available in the U.S. I like 'em fine. Getting a
12 harp case does not solve the problem of non slotted cases. I group my
harmonicas in sets of 6 and oftentimes have 5 or 6 sets out at a gig.
Plus the loose SBS's and the odd 365's and 364's. One giant partitioned
case would be a nightmare. I like how compact the slotted cases are and
they open just fine for me. I use a soft Land's End Luggage case for all
these harmonicas. What I would like are smaller sub cases for the soft
bag. I long ago stopped ruining my harmonicas by trying to carry them
around in my jeans pockets so the hard Hohner cases are of no use to me.
In fact the only Hohner cases I like are the soft SBS ones. The other
hard plastic cases all lose their little glued in plastic form that the
harmonica rests in then they don't close right and the harmonica is
constantly falling out when the case is open because the form gets
tipped. The coolest harmonica cases I've ever seen for single harmonicas
are the ones Filisko supplys for an upcharge. They're wooden but they're
very bulky and would be awful if you had many of them plus they don't
slide together. Consensus means everyone agrees. Well count me out the
Lee Oskar cases work fine for me and currently are my best compromise. fjm
