I'd also like to remind harp-l that Winslow writes about harmonicas for a living. I'm sure anyone out there who gets money from published songs or recordings can understand the need for copyright.
Legally speaking, anything you post on harp-l WITHOUT a copyright can be freely reprinted by anyone, and is in the public domain. Anything posted WITH a copyright can only be reprinted within the standard Berne convention "fair use" rules (short quotes or summaries, with attribution), or with permission of and subject to the conditions of the author.
I encourage anyone to insert copyright notices on any posts to harp-l which they feel should remain their intellectual property.
