The size of his publication is of no concern. You mentioned that you quoted
the article and forwarded it to him leaving it up to him to get permission
etc. What is to stop someone from then quoting his uncreditted article and
sending it in to some other publication and someone else from doing the
same thing.

Next time Winslow tries to sell this article to a publication, they accuse
him of stealing the piece from the pub, they got it out of, and besides why
should they pay for it since they got it from someone else.

Copyright is a touchy subject, and the only ones it hurts are the creative
folks that have taken the time to express their thoughts on paper or other
means. Unfortunately if these people get tired of being ripped off, who is
going to take their place?
