Ian Anderson did indeed play harp on the first Jethro Tull LP ("This Was").
I recall "New Day Yesterday" in particular; very nice blues harp, cleanly
played, good feel, fit well with the band and the groove. As I recall,
Anderson never played harp again on a Tull release. My guess is that the
flute offered him more exciting visual (performance) possibilities.
