I hope that's what it was. My caution has to do with number of times
I've seen at jams a harp player come up and grab the vocal mic, cup it
with the harp, and start wailing into a solo that gave people the
deer-in-headlights look because of the decibel level. I used to play
with a guy who would invariably surprise me on stage by doing this trick
and no amount of reminding that the volume was set for his singing and
let me readjust it if he got a hankering to blow harp (I'd switch to
guitar for a number of songs) would help. I remember watching a video
tape of one of our performances and I was hoping it wasn't as painful as
I had thought from stage, but there it was, and I was playing guitar and
couldn't readjust his volume.
