I can't answer your question but I can give it an historical dimension. I
haven't listened to either of these songs for a long time but memory tells
me that in the translation from the Valentinos' 'It's all over now' to the
Rolling Stones version
of the song the lyric 'You got my nose open' got cleaned up into something
suitably comprehensible for a British audience, eyes open perhaps
(presumably Jagger didn't know what it meant either). If you get no joy
here, try Blues-L, they love their idiom over there.
