Subject: sugar blue and jr wells

I must agree the interview with Sugar Blue and Jr Wells touched
on a number of topics. I agree with the writer that Sugar Blue comes
off as a borderline rascist while Jr Wells emerges as the elder statesman.
Sugar Blue did make an important point, though, he mentioned how America
prefers a British interpretation of blues rather than the real thing. I
worked with a guitarist for whom British invasion music was his only
outlook on the blues, while original blues artists were viewed as ""bar
band," music.
Also, Jr Wells mentioned that he had recorded some Country songs and that
they had done something for him. Right on Junior! I think Merle Haggard
is as a brillant a blues singer as anybody on the planet. Of course,
here on the list Country is virtually never mentioned.
