Subject: Harp Cases

My current favorite case for *just* harmonicas is a CD storage case I
modified. I started with a LaserLine brand CD case I got from K-mart or
Wall-Mart--they are pretty widely available. This one is rectangular to
hold 2 CDs side by side, with rounded corners and a black padded case.
The CD holders snap out without leaving residual junk to get in the way.

Then I bought some velcro; some with sticky backs and the rest just
plain. I put the sticky velcro around the top and side. Since a CD is
longer than a harp, I ran one piece of velcro between the ends of the
case. Then I cut strips that attached to the top and the strip, so that
each harp has it's own slot. I used the "soft" velcro part to surround
the harps. I also cut a bit of foam padding to put in the bottom of the
case. Makes me feel better, but I'm not sure it does anything...

It holds 10 harps across the length perfectly, with room beneath for 2
more, or an SBS. It works well in the car, since the velcro-strip-slots
keeps the harps from moving around.

Also from K-mart I bought a handgun case for $5.00. It holds my Astatic
JT30, a reverb stomp box, 2 cords, with room for other little stuff like
batteries, small tuner, etc. It's about the same size--though shaped
differently--as the CD case. Comes with egg-carton foam.

The two small cases with fit into a larger briefcase, gig bag, backpack,
etc etc.

Just sharing ideas that work for me.
