I've been reading these messages and I really don't know how to respond, but here goes anyway:

I started playing the Harp seriously about six years ago. What I mean by "seriously" is that I started to take lessons from a guy who has played professionally for over 25 years. The reason I did this is because I KNEW I couldn't play----I could hear it! I could tell I was out of beat, tune etc. and generally just annoying! So I took lessons, locked myself away until I could play. I'm by no means an expert, but I'm improving all the time.

I'm continually baffled by people who go out of their way to play on stage or in front of people, when they have NO clue how to. What is so fun about being clueless on an instrument and playing in front of people? Can't they tell they're ruinning the song? I always thought the reason for playing on stage etc. is to add a dimension to the song, to bring the music to a higher place than without you. To ENTERTAIN the people who are listening! Ya kinda figure they'd be embarrassed! I just don't get it. That is enough ranting for now!
