Professor of Physics at Univ So. Cal. Although he is talking about a cornet,
the facts seem to apply to the harmonica where the area of the covers is much
less than the surface area of the cornet. Besides that, the sound that you
feel is being absorbed by your hands.

"Wall vibrations are present and can be felt, but they should not be expected
to radiate enough sound to affect the quality of that normally radiated by
the instrument, or to vibrate sufficiently to affect the internal standing
wave. Hence we should not expect the material to have any influence on
tone."
