Subject: Lee Oskar & Hohner & sore lips

- --Sorry to bring this argument up again. I've not long started playing harp
I started with a Marine Band but my lips got very tender if I played for too
long, the reed plates stand quite proud of the comb!.Some time later I was in
a music shop looking at harps and saw a Hohner ProHarp the reed plates were
set into the plastic comb, no sharp edges, so I bought one and I've not stopped
playing it since. Last week I decided it was time for me to get another harp
in a different key so I went back to the same shop and asked for a ProHarp
only to find the design had been changed and yes the reed plates were standing
proud of the comb. Then I noticed some Lee Oskars and bought one and I'm
overjoyed with it. Nice clear bright tone, gentle on the old lips.
Is it better than a Hohner? As far as I'm concerned yes. My lips are prone
to cracking but with no sharp edge it's easier on them, and to my ear a
better tone[ My family tell me I'm tone deaf ] ???
The only down side is the price. Equivelent to 30 dollars U.S. but Hohners
are only $1.50 cheaper.
