Subject: Re: ROD PIAZZA!

According to Butterfield:
.
. I saw Rod Piazza last night at Twist and Shout in Bethesda Maryland. I was
. suprised to see that only a handful of people showed up but it made the
. night more enjoyable. I showed up an hour early and had conversation with
. the band and Rod himself. They were all very nice and more than happy to
. BS for a while. THE SHOW WAS INCREDIBLE!!

I was also at that show and it was an incredible show. I think there
would have been more of a crowd if it had been a Friday or Saturday night
(I saw Billy Price at the same club Saturday night and it was packed).

He played a lot of originals that I hadn't heard before. I asked him if
this meant they were working on a new album and he told me that they
would have one one out soon, I believe on the Capricorn label.

He had one of the coolest kitchy amps I've ever seen. It was a Bassman
reissue with a leapord skin covering (fake - I told Rod it's a good thing
because if it was real someone might throw paint on it) and "KING OF THE
JUNGLE" written on the cover. It also has a faceplate that says "Famous
Bluesman" in stead of "Fender Bassman." I'm pretty sure it's the same amp
(or a similar one) pictured in the Harpburn cd.

Not much I can add to John's review. I actually missed most of the first
set becasue the DC Blues Society jam ran pretty late. Rick Holmstrom was
excellent on guitar - it was like hearing T-Bone Walker live! All of the
members of this band are greaqt. I could watch and listen to Miss Honey
all night long! :-)
