Subject: Show me a map, please!

Help required for rank amateur:

Can someone please give me some advice? I keep coming across conflicting
information. Working from tab positions back to staff lines, I note that,
in different places, C (C major diatonic mouth organ, 4 hole blow) is said
to correspond to the second space down (as in F, A, *C*, E) and the first
line below the staff lines (as in *C*, E, G, B, D, F). It may be that I'm
just a fool for consistency (it may be that I'm just a fool, full stop) but
this has me confused. I recognise that it's just a matter of an octave but
in the matter of an octave, 'just' doesn't seem appropriate.
