Subject: Re: free FAQ

Hi folks, I had been 'of-line' for some time, so I lost the connection to this
subject Philippe LAVALLEE from Paris commented on 10-14-96:

>>Subject: Misadministrivia - new posting policy
>>After review, we have determined that there is indeed nothing new under
>>the sun. All questions we've seen in the past couple of years have been
>>commented on and answered. This has all been condensed into a file known

<><>What a surprise to read that! I disagree with this position. The HarpL
members has not been asked for their point of view..<><>

The single sentence <nothing new under the sun.<< contains enough stuff for an extended debate. No
fear, I've not the intention but would only mention some 'facts' to underline
the contrary of this philosophical point of view.

All inventions, scientifical and technical developing, the increase of entropy
according to the second law of thermodynamics, the constant edition of
newspapers and magazines and last 'and' least the 'developing' of weaponry human
beings are using to turn the course of history backwards are some examples for a
lot of new under the sun.

However, I agree that questions about the 'second position' or the construction
of chromatics (with few exceptions) might be nothing new. But this is no reason
to delete the whole harp-L.

We are just going to discuss the hypothesis of 'breaking-in' harps from a more
serious basis or achieved certain results about the influence of harp material
to the sound and that's very new on harp-L. Any thoughts?
