Subject: Details

I've been wondering lately about what you all think are the important
details of playing. What I mean is, there are subtleties associated
with note presentation, attack, decay, vibrato and when to use it,
timing, etc etc. What particular things do you all pay attention to,
beyond the basics.. beyond hitting the right note at the right time.

The pros in most fields pay attention to the details. The things that
are difficult to pick out for the average listener, but overall make the
difference between a clean and polished sound, and something that just
isn't quite there.

Any thoughts?
