Subject: Aluminum

There is no conclusive evidence linking aluminum intake to
the occurrence of Alzheimers. I reviewed the harp-l archives of
this discussion, and the conclusions were correct: the amount of
aluminum ingested from playing an aluminum alloy harmonica is
likely to be negligable, certainly less than that obtained from
cookware and vastly less than from aluminum-based antacids.
However, if one finds corrosion and pitting of the aluminum
on a harp, then some ingestion may be taking place. Avoiding
acid-containing drinks and foods just prior to using an aluminum
harp seems prudent.
