I just checked and I still do something like this. It is unconcious to me and just happens all by itself. I have seen people ask recently about how to play without getting out of breath. Nose technique is the answer. Using the nose as a valve, I play with it closed off unless I am breathing while playing. Of course i am always breathing, so that doesn't really help, does it?
I do close my nose valve when bending and if it is a snap bend I think a "silent snort" (as jg put it) describes what I do sometimes.

This is true. Jon has more of a sweet tone. I have more of a power tone. Would you agree with that Jon?
