I've created a new list, called harp-l-worke~arply.com. The purpose of the list is for discussion of the technical aspects of running the harp-l systems, and to "induct" people into a more formal group of people with administrative reponsibility for harp-l. It's gotten way to large and busy for just me to run it!
Anyone who is interested in helping out with the running of and further development of harp-l should subscribe to this list, by sending the command ...
subscribe harp-l-workers
... as the first and only line of a message to majordo~arply.com.
I've already subscribed half a dozen of you who have already offered time and expertise, you know who you are.
If you subscribe yourself to the list, please send a message introducing yourself, and briefly outline your area of expertise or interest, picking from the list below for an overall "job function".
What we are looking for is:
harp-l bouncers - people to wade through the ton of bounced mail and weed out dead addresses from the list. A *very* important job, as the more dead addresses, the slower the list grinds.
harp-l approval - people to pick up and deal with the day to day sub/unsub traffic, and deal with other subscription problems.
harp-l web - people with HTML and/or perl/CGI experience to assist in development of the web side of harp-l.
harp-l systems - people with UNIX and/or NT experience, who can assist in the administration of the underlying systems. Pre-supposes a working knowledge of perl and C, as well as the OS, plus one of sendmail, DNS, hypermail, apache or majordomo.
A pre-condition of joining harp-l-workers is that you have one of the new Harp-L Web accounts. To get one, point your browser at:
