Okay, maybe I'm missing something here, but my understanding of the Circle
of Fifths was/is that each point on the circle is the 5th step beyond the
previous note, i.e. G is followed by C is followed by F, etc. A major
fifth is a whole different concept, no? If we're talking about major and
minor (and whatever) fourths and fifths, etc., that's chords, not notes.
For my own pea brain, the fifth note makes more sense than the major 4th
chord for remembering which harp to pick for cross harp. I recognize that
everyone has his own pet method for figuring this stuff out. I'd just like
to see us settle on one method as it confuses the heck out of me. I can
only imagine what it does to newbies. :-)
