Subject: 5ths & 4ths

Aah,
Now I know what confused me. The question of fourths or fifths
is really based on whether you know they key of the tune or the harp and
from which direction you come. I.e. if I have a C harp how can I tell
what the cross harp key is? Or, if the key of the tune is in G how can I
tell what harp to use? My discussion in the past has always been from
the former - the question of what is the cross harp key for a given harp.
This is a fifht up or a fourht down. Others were correct in pointing
out that the harp you should pick will thus be a fourth up or a fifth
down from the key of the tune.
To avoid this discussion all the time we should adopt the habit
of saying "if the tune is in G" or "if the harp is in C" before we go
further. I bet that this simple point that confused me often sparks alot
of responses from others as well
