I remember bluegrass guitarist Peter Rowan talking about a similar method he
learned from Bill Keith, the legendary banjo player. Apparently, this lesson
was conducted inside a ancient stone circle in England, whislt they were
over here on tour. Keith finished off by walking around the circle,
carefully striking each stone to prove his point - "What you gotta remember
is, Pete, it's the tones in the stones!"

Dr. Midnight has some ideas using the clock analogy, too. I'll leave that to
him to explain.
