Quite true. Even the best recording equipment falls short of live sound.
This is one reason why recording is more of an art than a science. If
your recorder is less than great, as are many home quality units, the
difference between live and memorex becomes even greater.

However, despite their shortcomings, recorders are still excellent for
analyzing your playing.
