Subject: Re: need a good screw

The screw size that I use is 0-80 x 1/8, available in various head styles.
That is the standard screw size closest to the rivet size. I enlarge the
rivet hole in the reed slightly with a round file, tap the plate without
re-drilling the rivet hole and it works fine. Then I use a Dremel tool with
abrasive disc to cut the screws off flush with the plate on the back side to
facilitate attachment of the windsavers...maybe not necessary on diatonics.
Installation is a little tricky because of the tendency of the reed to
rotate as you tighten the screw. A little practice does the work.

I buy the screws and taps at McMaster Carr, a national industrial supply
house. Grainger and other industrial hardware stores probably carry them.
