Thanks, Chon, for solving this mystery for me also. I spent quite a little while trying to figure out why my G Special 20 was doing this - checked the reed clearance on all three sides etc. It never occured to me that it might be reaching the cover. As a rank beginner, I am probably just hitting this reed too hard. At least I know now what is going on ...
