Subject: Throw me a line! (Glub, glub)

Help.

The second-octave E on my brand new gold metallic CX-12 suddenly cut
out. I manually lifted up what I thought was a stuck windsaver (sixth
hole, bottom reed plate, outside valve, right?) and still got no sound.

Knowing (!) now that a little bur had somehow gotten jammed in the reed
slot, I tried taking my CX-12 apart. It's so easy. All you have to do
is pop out the slide and remove the rear spring plate. ...

I CAN'T GET THE DANG THING APART!

Sorry for the yelling. I can't get the dang thing apart. I can remove
the slide, but when I press the two holes on the spring plate, I get
no wobble, no movement, no nothing. What am I (admittedly, the king of
klutzes who considers a hammer the best tool for nearly any task) doing
wrong? Advice would be cherished.
