If you do not have a Harp-L Web account yet, you MUST READ this message.
As of Jan 1st, 1997, in order to receive Harp-L mail, you will need to have a Harp-L Web Account. This doesn't mean we're about to start charging you for membership, or in any other way restrict harp-l. We just need to get a little bit more organized so we can can continue to grow without drowning the people that run harp-l in floods of bounce mail and other administrivia.
How you get yourself an account depends on whether you have a web browser, or access to one. If you do, then simply go to:

... and follow the instructions you will find therein. You can also stop reading this message here. Bye Bye.
If you do NOT have a web browser, and cannot beg, steal or borrow use of one for 5 minutes, then please send mail to harp-l-worke~arply.com and ask for email assistance in setting up an account.
All we *have* to know is:
Your "Real Name". This doesn't have to be your real name, just a real *looking* name.
Your desired "username". This should be short single word, using ONLY lower case letters and numbers, and MUST be 8 characters or less in length.
Your desired "password". Must be at least 6 characters long, with at least one UPPER case letter or a number.
Your "primary" listname: your "home" list, one of harp-l, harp-l-digest or harp-l-friends.
Your "email". Whatever address you are subscribed to your primary list as. Ask us if you aren't sure about this, it is *very* important!
You may optionally supply the following details:
Do you teach? yes or no. If "yes", we will get back to you and find out more.
Which City do you live in?
Which Country do you live in.
A brief biographic description of yourself, which you wouldn't mind anyone in the word being able to read. Keep it to a couple of paragraphs.
Do you wish to be "private". Every harp-l account will be visable to others with a harp-l account, but you may elect to have your account details hidden from "the rest of the world".
