Singing lessons have shown me some of the ways
one can play harp with beautiful tone, but not be
cutting it as a singer. One of my biggest problems
as a singer is pronunciation of vowels. They want to
form in the back of my throat near the location
where I hollow my throat out for sweet harp tone. It
helps my singing significiently to remember to sing
from the front of my mouth and to pay attention to
the enunciation. I also had to learn a lot about
directing my voice into my nasal passages at the
gateway from chest to head voice (the pasagio?).
I also needed to learn to avoid tilting my head back
as I sang. Although I'm still working on it,
identifying some of the differences between how I
play harp and correct singing technique has been
important to my improvement as a singer. Jon
