Subject: Advice about Fender Bassman amps

Hi Folks,

More and more I'm starting to realize I'm going to need a bigger amp.
I'm in a blue band and I basically go for the Chicago Little Watler
sound.

Currently I play through a 1981 50 w solid-state Acoustic with a 10
inch speaker. I'm really able to drive the sound and keep the feedback
down with it, and I get a pretty good sound, but in certain club
situations, I'm getting drowned out. I can mike it, but there are times
when I would like to have something bigger, plus I'd like to get a
warmer tube sound.

I've been hearing and reading a lot about Fender Bassman amps. From
what I knew about them before, I always thought they were separate head
and cabinet. So I was surprised when I saw the reissue was a combo
(one-piece).

My question is: Which is better, the separate head/cabinet or the
combo?

Also, I've seen an ad for a '68 Bassman head for $275. Is this a good
price?

Finally, are there any other amps I should consider?

Sorry about asking this boring question yet again.

Thanks for the help,

Jimbeau
