Subject: Alfie..Kiss my.....

Happy New Year all,

Alec asked about the Pizz. or very Staccatto portion of SW's "Alfie",
I've had the most depressing task of trying to recreate some Stevie
solos for Japanese Carioca recordings. I did:
"I'snt She Lovely", "I was Made to Love Her", "For Once in my Life"
and Elton John's " I guess that's why they call it the Blues".
I wasn't aware that Stevie played different key Chroms and did all
the Solos on my Hard Bopper. Alfie is in Bb as I remember and the best
way to get that section is to use "Pucker" and KISS the notes very short
also use the tongue to articulate at the same time. It's a beautiful
recording, I remember seeing him on a Bacharach special on TV back in
the 70's?? play that song with an orchestra, then saw him do it live
at Radio City in the 80's UNaccompanied.....I almost put my harp case
under the wheels of a NYC garbage truck on my way home that night...
