Subject: Frank Huang Chro for Stevie

Robert B. made mention(in a post directed to Mike)
that he didn't think Frank Huang made any plates for
Stevie other than in "C" . . .

Actually Robert, it may interest you that Frank
himself told me that he made harmonicas for
Stevie in many keys . . .

I seem to remember he said that this was because
Stevie like to play in Eb . . .

I know that because, as I have mentioned, Frank
made one for me-in C-which I still have, and one
time he told me that he couldn't get to some repair work
for me-because he had to make several harmonicas
for Stevie in several keys other than "C"- because
Stevie had a recording date, and he quickly needed
those harmonicas-to play relative to certain keys(or
"positions" possibly??? Nah,
we wouldn't want to get into THAT) . . . :-)

Incidentally, I just
tried your dorian trill suggestions on it- and they
turned out to be like some licks(or patterns) I've
been playing ever since I learned some of the
early Stevie Wonder chro style(Work Out
Stevie/Work Out-which is in G-but it's about the
same lick, and it works really well in a lot of keys,
and is very cool) . . .

Also, I might make mention that some time ago, you
said that you had tried Frank's prototypes along
with the 2016, but among other things you found it
too "heavy" . . .

I certainly agree(that it's very heavy), but I've always
liked that about it-because in some of the places I've
played, I've always felt safe-because the thing could
double as a blackjack . . . :-) :) -)
